Dear HGSD Parents, Staff and Community, November 6th, 2020
Thank you for another successful week. Today is the last day of our first term. Middle and High School parents will receive an email when Term 1 Progress reports are available through Family Access in Skyward. Progress reports should be available by November 12th. Northview report cards are going home with students on Monday, November 16th. Virtual parent teacher conferences will be held on November 17 and 19 for Northview families.
The circumstances leading to the decision to move to a 4-day learning model at Northview for the next couple of months were the drastic reduction in planning time for staff this school year, staff planning for teaching in dual platforms (in-person/virtual) at the same time. In addition, the COVID-19 visitor policies in place to limit exposures and contact tracing which means our teachers don’t have the volunteers necessary to assist with prepping materials, and the limits on our ability to get the additional assistance for our students to catch up due to being quarantined or sick.
The following Wednesdays for Northview Elementary are reserved for teacher planning time, November 11 and 18; December 2, 9, 16 for teaching planning time and virtual connectivity with the teacher as needed (independent or small-group work, individualized work with the teacher, intervention and extension activities). During these Wednesday’s there won’t be any in-person instruction. There will be in-person learning and virtual learning for families on Wednesday, November 25 and December 23. The Howards Grove School Board will be reassessing the Wednesday format at the December 21 school board meeting.
Please remember to communicate with the front offices if your child will not be attending school. We continue to track attendance carefully and need to know the reason for your child's absence in addition to the date symptoms started.

Congratulations to the Girls Volleyball Team on their Sectional Championship and their berth to the State Tournament. Tickets for the State Tournament are restricted due to COVID-19 and have been SOLD OUT. The Girls play Osseo Fairchild at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 7 and if they win will play in the championship game at 7:00 PM. Tickets are sold out, but fans can live stream the game off of the NFHS network - Howards Grove click on link. NFHS charges a small fee for the subscription to their network.
