Dear HGSD Parents, Staff and Community,                                        October 30th, 2020

Another week in!  This week we resumed in-person learning at Northview and we continued our hybrid model at the Middle and High School.  At this time, we will continue using this learning model for our district.  At our peak, we had over 147 students and 20 staff members out in quarantine or sick.  As of today, we have reduced that number to 55 and 9 respectively.

Our first term of the school year will be concluding on November 6th.  Middle and High School parents will receive an email when Term 1 Progress reports are available through Family Access in Skyward.   Progress reports should be available by November 12th.  Northview report cards are going home with students on Monday, November 16th.  Virtual parent teacher conferences will be held on November 17 and 19 for Northview families.

As cases continue to rise within the county, the Public Health Department has informed us that their efforts in contacting positive cases and contact tracing have been increasingly strained.  With this in mind, please continue to notify the district immediately and stay home if your student or a household member tests positive for COVID-19, or your student is deemed a close contact.  As a reminder, a close contact is considered if an individual was within 6 feet for a cumulative time of 15 minutes regardless of masking, had physical contact with an individual such as a hug or high five, or encountered respiratory secretions such as cough, sneeze, or sharing personal items. An individual is deemed a close contact if any of those apply starting two days prior to a positive individual’s symptom onset or two days prior to a positive COVID test if asymptomatic.

Communication is essential in fighting the community spread, we applaud you for your efforts in keeping the district up to date.  Every scenario is different, and we know the quarantine process can be confusing.  If your household isn't contacted by the Public Health Department within a couple days of receiving a positive result, please notify the school office and the district nurse will be in contact with you to determine a quarantine timeline.

Congratulations to the Howards Grove Volleyball team for advancing to the Sectional Finals match, which will be held this Saturday against Laona-Wabeno in Howards Grove.  Should the team win, they will advance to the State Semi-Final match next week.  Good Luck!
