Dear HGSD Parents, Staff and Community,                                                  October 16th, 2020

Thank you for all that you are doing and understanding as we transition this week to a hybrid model at the Middle School and High School.  We have also made additional adjustments at Northview to help improve social distancing and reduce contact tracing.  We know that this week has been difficult for families and we are trying to do everything we can to ensure kids and staff are safe and that we can return to in-person learning.

We would like to highlight a few items that will help us with your son/daughter's virtual learning:

·         Remind the students that the camera and microphone will be on during class time and background noises can be picked up by the microphone and heard by others.

·         Please follow the prompts from the teachers and know there will be some independent or down time when students may get a snack etc... but we ask that during their camera time and class time they refrain from activities that could disrupt the rest of the class.

At this time, we are planning to continue the hybrid model at the Middle School and High School.  We are also planning to return to full days at Northview Elementary on October 26th.  As we have come to learn, this is a very fluid situation and things could change.  Ultimately we want all students and staff to be safe.

Community COVID-19 testing will be available by The National Guard at The Sheboygan County Aging & Disability Resource Center Wednesdays & Fridays from 10 am- 6 pm starting next week.  This testing is reserved for any individual that is symptomatic or has had close contact with a positive case.  Testing is free and while testing supplies last.

With the continued rise of state and county COVID-19 cases, I encourage families to continue to practice social distancing, wearing facial coverings, and frequent handwashing to stop the spread of COVID-19 while out in the community.   Please exercise caution when participating in social gatherings.

We are offering free grab and go bag lunches to all students.  Lunches can be picked up between 11am and 1 pm in the High School commons.

We are collecting information for our second quarter of school, November 6th - January 20th. This information will assist our staff to provide the best learning environment for your child. The form will need to be filled out one time for each child in your household that is attending the Howards Grove School District. It would be helpful if the form could be completed by Friday, October 30th. https://forms.gle/qDHQastT1ZpPnxJp8

We are all in this together and are here to help.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Chris Peterson, Scott Fritz, Heather Zizis, Jason Cole, Josh Swanson, and Tracy Bandt
