Dear HGSD Parents, Staff and Community, September 24th, 2020
Improvement, progress, and stamina are three key words that come to mind this week. We continue to improve how we work in this new environment, we see students making progress and adapting with the changes, and our students, staff and community are showing great stamina in keeping up with safety protocols. Thank you so much for your continued cooperation and efforts to keep our buildings open.
We're learning more as we navigate through each week and have mentioned that guidelines will be fluid. In an effort to be flexible during these unforeseen times, we have changed our district recommendations for exclusion from school at this time for those that choose to self-quarantine at home vs seek out testing or get physician clearance.
- A symptomatic student AND all district household members will be excluded from school for 10 days since symptom onset as long as siblings remain asymptomatic. If district household members start to exhibit symptoms during this time, we ask that school be updated to guide what next steps would be.
Quarantine
- If a family chooses to self-quarantine, no physician note is needed to return to school. We will communicate with you when your student/family can return to school.
- If a student or staff member is under a Public Health ordered quarantine, school will need a copy of the release of quarantine letter for that specific individual.
I know that these protocols are, at times, frustrating and inconvenient. Our goal is keep everyone safe and our buildings open. We have been very fortunate so far in meeting this goal. Thank you so much for your continued efforts and support.
By now, most of you know that Governor Evers has extended the mandatory mask order through November 21st. Masks will be required when in any of our district buildings.
On the 15th day of school, legal letters were sent out to those students who are behind schedule with vaccinations. Please follow-up with your healthcare provider or return a signed waiver to your child’s school by October 14th to avoid exclusion from school per Wisconsin Immunization Law.
As you may have noticed, we had some struggles this week in Foodservice. The lunch that was provided did not match the menu on a couple of days. We are going through a transition period and we want to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We have taken steps to ensure that this doesn’t happen again. A new lunch menu has been uploaded to the website.
