Dear HGSD Parents, Staff and Community, April 9th, 2020
- We do not have any updates as to the length of the closure. We still are under state order to be closed indefinitely. We strongly feel that if given the opportunity to return to school, even if for only one week, we will do so. Some amount of closure to the school year would be a blessing for our students and staff.
- Following this week of Spring Break, we will resume daily pick-up of Free Bag lunches at the High School for any individual who is 18 years old or under, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. If anyone is in need of additional food, there are boxes of food items for families available during the lunch pick-up times. We have about 5 boxes that are available daily. Please take them if you need them.
- Virtual learning resumes on Monday, April 13th. Please continue to do the best you can. If you are having any issues, please reach out to your classroom teacher or building principal for help. We want every student engaged in learning during this closure. We are here to help.
- Third quarter ends on April 17th. At this time we are continuing to grade students as we have in the past. We are strongly considering other options for grading such as Pass/incomplete. We want all of students to continue to put in their best effort during this challenging time. We will keep you informed when we know more.
- We are hopeful that we will be able to have graduation as planned on June 7th. We have identified two alternate dates in case we cannot hold graduation on June 7th due to the closure. Those two alternate dates are July 12th and August 2nd.
In my last communication I reminded all of you about social distancing. Please refrain from coordinating play dates and social gatherings. According to Sheboygan County Health Department and the CDC we need to continue following the guidelines.
■ Preserve social distancing of 6 feet between people. ■ Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, as frequently as possible ■ Cover coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or elbow, not hands) ■ Regularly clean high-touch surfaces ■ Not shake hands ■ Follow all other public health recommendations issued by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Centers for Disease Control.
Please continue to do your best. If there are specific needs that we can help with, please let us know. We are all in this together and we will all get through this together.
Sincerely,
Chris Peterson, Scott Fritz, Heather Zizis, Jason Cole, and Tracy Bandt
